Established since 2000, Nigerian Community In Waltham Forest (NICOWF) has been an umbrella organisation that brings together ethnic minority groups in the Borough of Waltham Forest to provide a concerted and assidious approach to the Local Authority with their concerns on policies enacted locally or nationally. NICOWF is a charitable organisation born out of the necessity to foster and strengthen the bonds among local people living in the borough. According to records, Nigerians in particular settled in this area as far back as 1891. The current electoral register shows that about 4,500 Nigerians live in the borough. This figure ranks the Nigerian Community as one of the largest in the area. This is a sizable quorum that can be used as an active force for bringing changes to local and national policies. It has always been our objective and intention to use it for GOOD.
